GET YOUR ENTRY IN AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE! FIRST IN, LAST OUT RULE APPLIES!!

Beauty, plus your choice of 3 of the 12 possible optionals is required to win a "Supreme" title. You may enter as many optionals as you wish and only your 3 highest optional scores will count towards the Supreme Titles. (This is a good way to improve your chances and get your lowest scores tossed out).

Overall Optional Winners will receive a sash, crown and trophy. Winners may be either male or female.

Age Division Optional Winners will receive a trophy or medal. Winners will be chosen for each age and gender division (they will not be combined).

"Beauty" is Formal Wear, Party Wear or Pageant Wear and is judged on personality, natural facial beauty and how the attire compliments the wearer. The modeling will not be judged for beauty score. (Modeling is an optional score, listed below as "Best Model")

OPTIONALS AVAILABLE ARE:

Photogenic: A head-shot photo, 8x10 or smaller. No frames. Color or black & white. Contestant’s name & age on the back. You may enter up to 4 photographs and only the highest scoring one will count towards Supreme Titles. You must still enter at least 2 other optional categories, regardless of how many photographs you enter, as each optional is only counted once towards Supreme. (You may not enter two photos and count that as two optionals)

Talent: 3 minutes MAXIMUM. Please do not go over, as you will be disqualified. It is heartbreaking to have to disqualify someone because they went over by only a few seconds. (You may not enter two talents and count that as two optionals)

Portfolio: 5-10 photographs in an album or binder with the contestant’s name & age indicated on it.

Activity: Scrapbook of achievements, academic or otherwise, community service, misc. awards, sports, etc.

Patriotic Wear Modeling: Anything Red, White and Blue. Be creative and have fun! Straight runway walking and turns (no pro-am modeling). Music provided by AAFCP.

Casual Wear Modeling: Your favorite off-the rack summer outfit. Please note that swimsuits are NOT appropriate for this competition. Straight runway walking and turns (no pro-am modeling). Music provided by AAFCP.

Sportswear Modeling: 3 minutes MAXIMUM. Can be glitzy. Pro-am style or "anything goes" modeling. One entry per contestant. You may bring your own music or AAFCP will provide music if you do not have your own.

Best Personality: Judged during interview. Interview is mandatory as it is also part of the Beauty Score, but you do not have to choose Personality as an optional to count towards Supreme. Interview will consist of a brief on-stage interview with the Western Regional Director over information on the Emcee Sheet.

Most Beautiful/Handsome: Judged on natural facial beauty & determined during the Beauty/Formal Wear event.

Best Fashion: Judged during Beauty/Formal Wear & based on "age appropriateness," "fit," and "how well it compliments the wearer."

Best Model: Judged during Beauty/Formal Wear (This is not needed to win Beauty. This is just an optional).

All American Artist: Design and bring in a poster promoting All American Family Pageants. Will be judged on ability for age, creativity and overall appeal. We encourage the children to design and create these posters. May be any size from 8.5" x 11" to standard "poster" size (use your best judgment). All entries will be on display during the pageant and will be kept by the pageant for display at future events (you may use this same poster at Nationals, if you so choose).

*****************

Cover Model: If you would like a chance to be either on the front or back cover of our program book, this is the optional to choose. Cover Model Photos are due IN THE REGIONAL OFFICE for judging by April 15th, 2003 and must be sent via CERTIFIED or REGISTERED mail. This score does NOT count toward a Supreme title and is an EXTRA Optional.

All Optionals will be awarded on an Overall Basis (one overall winner in each optional category AND one winner for each optional in each age and gender division.)

Double Crown Policy:

We do not double crown! If you win Elite Supreme you are not also eligible to win Mini-Supreme or King/Queen. If you win Mini-Supreme you are not eligible to win King/Queen. The four Supreme titles will be placed as "Prince/Princess" until they are announced as Supreme winners. Winning Supreme, King/Queen, etc does not have any effect on your ability to win Overall and/or Divisional Optionals. The exception to this rule is if there is only ONE person in a division AND they also win a Supreme title. In that case, they may be crowned Queen (or King) of their division as well as Mini or Elite Supreme. This keeps the level of surprise high for everyone. ALSO, Hostess, Ambassador and Sweetheart titles are separate and may also be "double crowned."

If you win an optional on an overall basis, you will not be eligible to win it again at the age division basis. Again, you will win the highest award you achieve. Boys and girls compete equally for Elite Supreme, Mini-Supreme and Overall Optional awards.

Judging Criteria:

We are a family values oriented pageant system. We believe all contestants are beautiful and that each individual has a special and unique value. We offer a variety of different options (which apply toward Supreme), each weighted equally, so that contestants can choose their own areas of strength and put their best foot forward.

We seek to be represented by contestants who are naturally beautiful, inside and out. They have personality, character and a special quality that shines through. We want to see each one as an individual. We will not do any line-ups at this pageant. We want each contestant to be evaluated on his or her own merit and not compared to other contestants.

The Beauty score is determined based on three areas: Personality (as determined by interview. This is not an 'I.Q.' test but based on the personal appeal & character of each individual), Natural Facial Beauty ('pageant' hair and some makeup are allowed, but we prefer them to be age appropriate and to enhance the natural beauty of the contestant, not alter their appearance to look like an unnatural "standard." We do discourage "obvious" makeup, especially on babies & small children. Older girls are allowed a little more lee-way. Please, no fake tans, fake eyelashes, extensions, falls, etc. The point is that cosmetics should enhance, not alter, the appearance) and Attire (which is based on how well the clothing fits, how age appropriate it is and how well it compliments the wearer). We do not judge by the cost of the garment, who the designer is or how many beads are on the dress. A fancy pageant dress and a Sunday Best dress could be equally successful if they fit all of these criteria and if the contestant looks and feels great in them.

For photos we allow glamour type pictures and they can have fancy hair & makeup. However, we prefer photos that look "real" and not overly "retouched." Many pageant photographers automatically touch up the photos and we are not penalizing them for this. However, we prefer that the photo be an accurate representation of the person, as much as possible. We do not look for only the big name pageant photographers. A good photo from a local department store could be just as successful as a top pageant photographer. We are judging the photogenic merit of the person in the photo, not the skill of the photographer. There is no score for "eye contact." Smiling or serious photos are equally acceptable.

For modeling ability (and talent) we look at what they are able to do and how it relates to the age of the contestant. For beauty modeling, we prefer straight run-way, Miss America-type modeling. For the optional sportswear modeling event each contestant is allowed to choose his or her own modeling style. We do not add or subtract points for the style they choose, merely for how well they model for their age. (There is no "modeling" score for the beauty competition).

We especially like to see contestants who are attractive, personable, poised, confident and happy with themselves.

First Paid-in-Full contestant will be awarded the title of 2003 Western Regional Sweetheart and also receive a special trophy, crown and monogrammed sash!  NEW! We will also award this on a divisional basis!!  The first Paid-In-Full in each division will win their Divisional Sweetheart title!!

(Sweetheart title has NO bearing on Supreme titles and is awarded separately. In other words, this may be "double-crowned.")
